UPDATE: STEPPING TO A NEW TUNE - VIRTUAL DANCE BIG RED 2020
Dance Big Red has shifted from an on campus event to a virtual platform on March 20 from 8-Midnight. Dance Big Red is WKU’s largest student led fundraiser that unites all students to raise funds for Norton Children’s Hospital and our primary concern is ensuring that our participants, families and vendors stay safe and healthy. As a virtual event we are opening up participation to the community, all friends and family of Dance Big Red & Norton Children's Hospital can register as well and join us for an evening of dancing in our heart together to raise funds!!!
The Sixth Annual Dance Big Red student-led dance fundraising event at Western Kentucky University will be held March 20, 2020. This past March, nearly 900 students, faculty, families, sponsors and special community guests danced for 12 hours and raised over $71,000 for Norton Children's Hospital.
Since it began, Dance Big Red has raised more than $250,000 for pediatric cardiovascular services and adolescent cancer care at Norton Children’s Hospital. A total of four high schools hosted Dance Little Reds contributing to the overall success and growth of Dance Big Red. Join our efforts by participating as a dancer, making a donation, and/or becoming an event sponsor today!

Norton Children's Hospital cares for children from birth to adulthood with over 180,000 cared for in 2018 from across the state of Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Children require smaller equipment, different medications and sometimes, different doctors. Norton Children's Hospital clinical staff is trained to provide the special kind of care children need and deserve.
Norton Children's Hospital is not-for-profit and relies on the generosity of the community to support programs, hospital improvements, education and advocacy through the Children's Hospital Foundation. Norton Children's Hospital cares for children regardless of their families' ability to pay. As the number of children needing help at Norton Children's Hospital continues to increase, so does the need to stay up-to-date on medical advances and technologies.
The Sixth Annual Dance Big Red will support pediatric heart with our community's tiniest patients by providing new diagnostic services at Norton Children's Outpatient Center - Bowling Green.
“The success of the event is a testament to the strength of leadership and compassion found at WKU.” said Dana Matukas, IOM, Western Kentucky Development and Marketing Coordinator, Children’s Hospital Foundation and Norton Children’s Hospital. “Children’s Hospital Foundation was contacted by a WKU sophomore, Kelli Robinson in early 2014 with the idea to create a dance event to support Norton Children’s Hospital. One student’s dream has now grown into an annual event that continues to grow with student participation and pledges impacting children from across the state that need specialized treatment. Since the inaugural event four years ago, the event has raised over $250,000 for Norton Children’s Hospital.”
Western Kentucky University VP of Student Affairs Brian Kuster said, “Wow! What a great job. Congratulations to all of the volunteers, donors, and participants in the 2019 Dance Big Red event. Our students care and they back it up with passion and energy. Another example of the WKU Spirit. Congrats also to Norton Children’s Hospital for an awesome boost in support impacting children from across Kentucky.”
